V stredu 8. 8. 2007 o desiatej som prišiel k Julovi Kollerovi na dávnejšie dohodnuté stretnutie. Rozprávali sme sa o našej spolupráci, o ktorej sme diskutovali už predtým, a stále sme nevedeli nájsť formu, ktorá by bola pre nás najvhodnejšia. Nakoniec sme vymysleli, že nemusíme nič konkrétne robiť, že stačí, keď sa budeme stretávať a všetky naše stretnutia nahrávať na kameru a potom to budeme prezentovať ako videoart bez ohľadu na to, či budeme na stretnutiach maľovať alebo len tak sedieť. Výstup bude teda vždy len video, jeho názov podľa poradia stretnutia (začínať sa bude od „Stretnutie 001“). Snímaní budeme z diaľky, aby na zázname nebolo počuť, o čom sa rozprávame. Potom som mu navrhol, že naše prvé spoločné video môžeme uviesť už na výstave „Jesť sa musí!“. Dohodli sme sa, že pôjdeme do reštaurácie a naobedujeme sa. Kamera nás pri tom bude snímať z ulice asi hodinu. Malo sa to volať „Stretnutie 001“. Ešte dlho sme sa nadšene o tomto nápade rozprávali, pretože sa nám to zdalo byť veľmi čisté a jednoduché. Pri tejto príležitosti sme sa navzájom odfotili na balkóne. Bola to naša prvá spoločná fotografia, ktorú sme chceli použiť aj do katalógu. Nakoniec sme vyriešili technické detaily a dohodli sa, že sa stretneme budúci týždeň a nakrútime prvé video. Počas celého stretnutia som nemal pocit, že by v Julovom živote a v našej komunikácii vek hral nejakú rolu, hoci bol odo mňa asi o 35 rokov starší. Budúci týždeň mi už v stredu nezavolal a potom som sa dozvedel, že umrel. Hoci sa nám nepodarilo zrealizovať video pre túto výstavu a hoci bolo komplikované dohodnúť sa na tomto spôsobe prezentácie, som rád, že vzniklo aspoň dielo s názvom „Stretnutie 001“. Cítil by som sa veľmi čudne, keby som tento projekt aspoň raz neprezentoval, pretože si myslím, že to bol veľmi dobrý spoločný nápad. Július Koller je a bude v mojich očiach jeden z najväčších slovenských umelcov.
On Wednesday, 8 August 2007, at ten o’clock I came to a meeting with Julo Koller agreed long time ago. We discussed our cooperation which we had discussed before and we could not find a form which would be the best for us. At last, we came up with the idea that we did not have to do anything defined, and that it was sufficient if we just met and all our meetings would be recorded by camera and then we would present them as videoart regardless of whether we would paint or just sit during these sessions. So the output would always be just video, its name based on the meeting’s number (starting from „Stretnutie 001“). We would be recorded from a distance so the video does not capture the sound of our conversation. Then I suggested that our first joint video could be presented at the exhibition „Jesť sa musí!“(„Everybody has to eat!“). We agreed to go to a restaurant and have a lunch. Camera would record us from the street for about an hour. The title should have been „Stretnutie 001“. We discussed this idea excitedly for a long time because it seemed to us very pure and simple. At this occasion, we photographed together at the balcony. It was our first common photograph which we wanted to use for the catalogue. In the end, we solved technical details and agreed to meet the following week and record the first video. During the whole meeting I did not feel the age being of any importance despite the fact that Julo was about 35 years older. The following week on Wednesday he did not call me and then I found out that he had died. Although we did not manage to realise a video for the exhibition and despite the fact that it was complicated to agree on this way of presentation I am happy that at least the artwork „Stretnutie 001“ was created. I would have felt very strange if this project was not presented at least once because I think it was a very good joint idea. To me, Július Koller is and always will be one of the greatest Slovak artists.
